2019 Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay
Santa Maria Valley
The 2019 CRŪ Sierra Madre Chardonnay is sourced solely from the Sierra Madre Vineyard. First planted in 1971, the vineyard is located in Northern Santa Barbara County, near the western edge of the Santa Maria Valley. The Sierra Madre Vineyard is recognized as one of California’s finest cool-climate vineyards and the coldest vineyard in the state leading to a long, drawn-out growing season.
The Sierra Madre Chardonnay was aged 15 months in French oak barrels and went through malolactic fermentation leading to a soft and creamy texture while still keeping the stunning fruit notes. The wine opens with soft notes of honeysuckle and gardenia before leading into rich flavors of green apple, spiced pear and vanilla that are also evident on the long, creamy finish.
Pairing Suggestion:
The balance of creaminess and fruit in this showcase Chardonnay pairs beautifully with shrimp, herb roasted chicken or pan seared halibut with lemon butter sauce.
