Jose Reyes has been an essential member of the CRU team for nearly 12 years. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico and then California’s Central Coast, Jose began making wine 30 years ago under the direction of the winemaking team at the historical Bargetto Winery in Santa Cruz, California.
Jose strives to allow the grapes to express themselves without too much intervention. He crafts wines that consistently receive 90+ point scores and are worthy of both special occasions and everyday drinking.
Juan Reyes, Jose’s son, has worked under his father’s tutelage for the past 7 years at CRU. When he is not in the lab pulling data or in the cellar working with his father, Juan spends his time furthering his wine knowledge or in the tasting room sharing his winemaking insight with guests.
Matt Albarez, CRU’s cellar master, has spent the last 13 years at CRU, where he got his start by handling all local deliveries. Today, he oversees cellar operations from crush to bottling and is also responsible for inventory management.
