Jose Reyes has been an essential member of the CRŪ team since 2009. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico and then California’s Central Coast, Jose began making wine 30 years ago under the direction of the winemaking team at the historical Bargetto Winery in Santa Cruz, California.
Jose strives to allow the grapes to express themselves without too much intervention. He crafts wines that consistently receive 90+ point scores and are worthy of both special occasions and everyday drinking.
Robert has over 17 years of experience in cellar management and enology, specifically focusing on wines from the Central Coast. Before joining CRŪ Winery, he worked for Constellation Brands at various wineries as both an Enologist and Cellar Master managing multiple cellar teams. He is passionate about expanding his wine knowledge and has completed the UC Davis Sensory Course and is WSET Level 2.
At CRŪ Winery Robert works closely with winemaking to craft award-winning wines while also managing the day-to-day operations of the cellar.
Liz Ramey is the newest addition to the CRŪ Winery team. After serving in the US Navy, Liz decided to turn her passion for wine into a career. She earned her degree in Enology from Fresno State and started her winemaking career at Temecula Valley Winery Management as a Cellar Hand. She later moved to Santa Barbara and joined Rincon Mountain Winery as their Assistant Winemaker. There she honed her skills crafting wines from the Central Coast before joining the CRŪ Winery team in 2023. When Liz isn’t in the CRŪ Winery lab, she can be found with Jose, Juan and Robert in our grower vineyards throughout the Central Coast.
Juan Reyes Winemaking Assistant/ Cellar Hand
Juan Reyes, Jose’s son, has worked under his father’s tutelage for the past 7 years at CRŪ.
When he is not in the lab pulling data or in the cellar working with his father, Juan spends his time furthering his wine knowledge or in the tasting room sharing his winemaking insight with guests.
