2019 Sierra Madre Pommard Clone Pinot Noir
Santa Maria Valley
The 2019 CRŪ Pommard Clone Pinot Noir is sourced solely from the Sierra Madre Vineyard. First planted in 1971, the vineyard is located in Northern Santa Barbara County, near the western edge of the Santa Maria Valley. The Sierra Madre Vineyard is recognized as one of California’s finest cool-climate vineyards and the coldest vineyard in the state leading to a long, drawn-out growing season.
Every few vintages a special clone will stand out to our winemaking team and they will decide to bottle it on its own. The Pommard Clone from the Sierra Madre Vineyard is one of those wines. The wine starts with notes of cherries, raspberries and spicy tones of nutmeg and coriander before the rich mouthful of cranberries and spice that leads to its long and elegant dark chocolate finish.
This rich, fruit-forward wine calls for intense food flavors. We recommend pairing it with petit filet prepared medium rare.
